Introduction
Below I will discuss products currently offered by three companies – ProHealth, Immunity Today and 4Life. These are not the only companies from which products can be purchased.
By selling transfer factors, these companies, and others, are doing a great service for people. In a perfect world, they will be able to continue doing so indefinitely, but that will all depend on the FDA. Transfer factors fit perfectly into the FDA designated category of supplements. They alter the structure and/or function of the body so that it can fight diseases. They do not directly treat, or prevent, diseases. They act by bolstering the immune system so that it can work harder to get rid of, or keep us from contracting, diseases. Compare that to antibiotics, a category of drugs that act by directly attacking disease causing bacteria.
Regardless of my opinion on the matter, the availability of transfer factors is always at risk. The following warning letters written by the FDA to Immunity Today and 4Life make this clear. The first is from the FDA to Immunity Today in June, 2005. The second is from the FDA to 4Life Research in November, 2004. These are public record. The main complaints from the FDA center around how the products are marketed. Specifically, supplements cannot carry claims of effectiveness against diseases. For this reason, on sites selling transfer factors, you will not find claims of health benefits for specific disease states.
Below is an abbreviated list of products offered by the three companies mentioned above.

PLEASE READ: Please keep in mind that transfer factors are supplements and are not intended to treat, prevent, or cure any specific disease states. Consistent with how other immune supplements work, transfer factors simply boost the body's ability to do something it does everyday, protect us from pathogens. As with anything that activates the immune system, some people who take transfer factors feel mild flu-like symptoms sometime during the first few weeks. Nothing on this site should be considered as medical advice. Your health is in your hands. |
